Stowe Lake Scene
(Stowe Lake closed??)

C    Wow Dan, you are really into jogging, aren’t you?

D    Yes. All I think about is my gorgeous body and my fabulous future in politics. Jogging is my preparation

C    Well, when you are in some powerful political position, I hope you can do something for the other joggers here @ Stow Lake, and for the old Russian and Chinese people and the families who want to enjoy a non-commercial natural public space.

D    Oh, yeah? Why will I need to think about any of those boring people?

C    Because, powerful interests here in SF have evicted the owner & operator of the Stow Lake boathouse. Eviction was the only way moneyed interests could get rid of this SF familiy business in operation since the 30’s. The family business won the bid 5 times in a row in the normal bidding process, so powerful interests had to forcibly take the boathouse a different way. An out of state investor who lost the bid process has now been given the keys to the Stow Lake boathouse and he plans to put in an upscale restaurant that will not serve the current people using the area. Why can’t we keep a primarily non-commercial family run space in Golden Gate Park that we have been enjoying for 75 years?
